Jul. 23rd, 2008 @ 10:51 pm Mac <3 Epson...Or At Least it Used To
Current Mood: annoyed
Okay, so like I've stated in my last entry here, I'm using a loaner from the school until mine gets repaired. Well, I'm working on a project that I've been commissioned to do, and for it I need my printer to do some color testing.

For some reason, when I try to set up my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 on this MacBook Pro, I can't find the right model in the list of models. There's every other Epson printer on the list BUT mine! And I don't understand why I'm having such a hard time with this seeing as MY MacBook Pro had no problem installing the drivers and everything. This has nothing to do with administrative privileges, either, since I was able to install everything.

Can someone help me? I'm going nuts over here.

It occures to me that, dood. I love The Middleman. I should probably tell people, you know, other than the 400 or so of you on my friend's list who sorta kinda already know how much I love it due to me geeking out every Monday for the past month.

So I'm gonna send a H.E.Y.D.A.R. to ABC Family )

ETA: oooh! Also, they have a feedback form on the website.

Remember the TV fangirl mantra: can't hurt; might help.

I crocheted a dalek!  I gave it to my boyfriend (now fiance!) for his birthday.

I found the pattern on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5921493

He turned out to be pretty pudgy, and unfortunately, I couldn't prevent the eyestalk and plunger from drooping.

Jul. 23rd, 2008 @ 08:10 pm Project Runway
[info]khamon told me Natalie Portman was going to be a judge on Project Runway tonight...so, you know, I'm watching Project Runway. Fifteen minutes in, I have two observations:

1. "Flaming" suddenly feels like a subdued description.

2. Karalyn is a goddess.

Jul. 23rd, 2008 @ 06:00 pm But I Read It on the Internet!
Last week, I posted my post-Shore Leave report. There, I mentioned that, Saturday night at the bar, I had threatened to punch Pocket Books editor Marco Palmieri.

Today, Marco emailed me, telling me he had received a couple of emails from people who apparently saw this post, and asked him why I'd almost hit him. He had no answer, since he didn't remember the incident, and asked if he had done or said something to offend me.

Okay, people, seriously... I understand that some of you may not be intimately familiar with my sense of humor, and that my lack of smileys can be confusing. And while it may seem like common sense to me that, if I actually were to become angry enough with the man who could kill my Trek writing career in a heartbeat that I would genuinely threaten physical harm, that I might devote more than just one throw-away mention in the middle of a larger blog entry,... it may not be common sense to all.

But, geez, people... if you're reading this blog, and you question something in it... ask ME the question. Don't bother the people I'm writing about... especially when they don't even know I'm here in this dark corner of the net writing about them in the first place.

Horrible week made somewhat better by catching up on all the Middlevideos at abcfamily.com.

Middlemobiles! Middlemobiles! Middlemobiles! may have broken me. Every Sunday, I fall asleep to happy thoughts of "I get new MM tomorrow yays!" instead of "Oh God I hate my life and Mondays". I continue to pimp this show like a crack-addicted teenage runaway, so all of you will SHARE MY JOY, DAMMIT.

Also, the best part of the table read?

Jordan-as-Cindy, all the swearing included. AWESOME. Also, I covet Jordan Rosenberg's hat. Tho Nathalie apologising mid-anti-boy-band-rant to the boy band sitting at the other end of the table is a close second. And Javi as the High Aldwin.

Also, listening to the table read of "The Boy-Band Superfan Interrogation", I actually caught even more of the Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Willow references, if such a thing is possible. Agent Ravenwood FTW! It reminds me how much I thought I loved George Lucas, until he raped my childhood completely and sold it to toddlers. CHERISH THE GOLDEN MEMORIES. And just from the obsessive-TV-writing-geek perspective type, it's fascinating hearing all the bits that got cut for time. It's like getting a sneak peek at the shooting script when it's all lovely and solid goldenrod, like my memories of childhood.

And the cast continue to break me.

Now, I need to watch the table read of "The Flying-Fish Zombification" (which I did not even realise had been uploaded--BAD FANGIRL, ME), as I eat my meagre supper of left-over tuna cassarole.

ETA: zomg War Games on the big screen tomorrow after work!!!!

Jul. 23rd, 2008 @ 06:42 pm Lagging
I gots a MacBook, running on Leopard. I'm finding I can't multi task on it like I want.

Say I have Gmail and two Firefox windows open. Fine. I can even run iTunes or XM radio, no biggie. But if I try to work on a Word doc while all these things are going, I'll spend half my time watching the rainbow frisbee. And usually it's quite a while.

What can I do to work lag-free?

Am in my room at the Holiday Inn By The Bay, San Diego, showered and ready to head down to collect my badge. Those who follow me on Twitter will know the basics, but I'll talk in detail about the horror story that was my trip over later (but really, knowing me, is there any other kind?).

In the meantime, this is what I had for breakfast before I left Singapore. The cool thing is that I was reading the New York Times on my iPod Touch.

Jul. 23rd, 2008 @ 04:43 pm Evolution of a Dalek (Halloween Costume in July- YES!!)
Ok, so I have posted prototype 1. That was actually built in May when my son told me that he wanted to be Dalek Sec for Halloween. So, I have since improved on the idea. It is by no means DONE, and we are still working on it, but it will probably take us until October to finish with all the modifications and customizations that need to be done to allow him to move freely in the beast. However, this is prototype 2 with materials and pics. Remember, these are "works in progress" hopefully the finished product will be worth all the time and effort it has taken (and will take) for us to finish the darn thing! Thank goodness my daughter is going as something simple....ROSE!

Jul. 23rd, 2008 @ 05:22 pm Scarf question
Current Mood: artistic
Hello all!

I'm new here, been lurking for a little while...I was SO pleased to find places that combine Doctor Who and crafty-goodness.

Anyway, I have a question for you all: How long is a Doctor Who scarf supposed to be?? It doesn't really matter about scarves from different seasons, I'm just curious as to how long in general they are.

Reason being, I knitted one up using a loom (regular knitting drives me bonkers) and it came out to a bit over 20 feet! I'd like to know if I screwed something up somewhere along the way, or if I'm pretty accurate. Either way I'll most likely keep it.

Thanks! :)

Ok, so the first attempt didn't go well. It was definitely a learning experience, and spawned creative juices for improvements. I wonder if this is how Davros felt!?!?
