About More Iron Man
A surprising number of folks aren't staying thru the credits at Iron Man. If you didn't, here's what you missed:

Just saw it. Stayed through the credits. Saw this. I was not the only person who said "oh shit" out loud when we heard his voice, or when he introduced himself.

Avengers initiative? I assume this is a tip-off of an upcoming team movie? Were the Marvelites getting ansy about a Justice League Movie? Os this a tease snippet like the Batman / Superman poster in I Am Legend?

Well, the Hulk trailer looks like they're using the Ultimate Hulk for inspiration (government super-soldier project) rather than following from any previous movie, so having the Ultimate Nick Fury involved to tie things together would be a good idea.

eh...the comics origin was a military project, so it'd be the same "Government property". I guess maybe from the implied Abomination origin it's like Ultimate...but I don't think as much (felt more like the Scorpion's origin given to Abomination). I think they want to stay away from Ultimate Hulk. It's hard to sell action figures of canabilistic rapists.

As for Jackson, really, there's 2 actors you can get to play Fury...Jackson or Hasselhof. Who'd you pick?

(and on a PC level....Marvel's an awfully white company...Doesn't hurt to have a major black actor on board...esp as presumptive Black Panther is in jail now).

It's a plan. Stay thru the credits at Hulk for something else.

With IM being such a huge hit, Thor and Ant Man will likely get greenlgihts.

It's less about them being ansy, and more about IM is the first Marvel self-produced film. With them making the movies (rather than like Sony doing Spider-Man or Fox doing X-Men), they can take advantage of all of their characters and do shared universe stuff. Thus, do solo films to set up an Avengers movie.

WB/DC could obviously do something similar, but they have too many non-comic people in executive positions who get themselves attached to the films and bring them down. They keep focusing om Superman and Batman for $150m movies, ignoring all of their other properties. They've squandered their oportunities.

Compare to Marvel, where you've had big budget films like Spider-Man and the X-Men, mid-range like FF, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, low range like Electra, Punisher, Man Thing (straight to video). The 3 mid-ranges I mentioned were all hits...not at the level of X or Spider or Iron, but they made their money, which is what matters.
